How long does it take to 'reset' deleted char names - Guild Wars Forums

I just deleted a char so that I could use that same name for a new one (on a different account though). How long will it tell me that my old name is 'already in use' by a character, even though I know it isn't?

Usually 1 hour delay, thats what it is for pvp characters.

Ummm....as soon as you delete the character, you can make a new one with the same name. For a certain time period, the name is "held" for you/your account. After that, it's fair game and if you dawdled about before making your character with that name and it's now "in use" then you are SoL.

It took about two hours for my preview event character name to
be freed up for use on my retail account once I deleted it.

just make a lot of new char's until all slots are full (pvp char's with different names) on your account where the name was deleted. now you can use the name on the other account, and delete the pvp's you created
